RPS campaign highlights Summary Care Record support on offer to members

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is launching a social media campaign to help pharmacists better understand how to use the summary care record (SCR).

It follows the revelation that although 95% of pharmacists can now access the SCR — something that the RPS has been lobbying for since 2010 — many are still not fully confident in using it.

Between 1 and 8 July 2017, the Society is undertaking a week of social media activity to signpost pharmacists to the support available on using the SCR, including its ultimate guide to the system.

The RPS is continuing to call for “interoperability” — the ability of systems in pharmacies to fully connect with other primary care IT systems, allowing for pharmacists to make changes to the patients’ health records and better deliver integrated care, referring patients to other health professionals where necessary.

The Pharmaceutical Journal’s special report on the summary care record is available online.
