A pharmaceutical adviser who helps deliver savings to the NHS through supply chain services in Scotland has won international recognition.
Lindsay McClure, an adviser at NHS National Procurement, has been named as a fellow of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) – the membership organisation of national associations of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists from around the world.
McClure, former head of IT at the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, which negotiates on behalf of community pharmacists in England, is one of eight new fellows announced by FIP.
FIP Fellowship recognises individual FIP members who have served the organisation; shown strong international leadership; have distinguished themselves in pharmacy practice or the pharmaceutical sciences; or who have contributed to the advancement of pharmacy practice or pharmaceutical sciences.
FIP has also awarded Shinji Yamashita from Japan its distinguished science award, which is given every two years in recognition of outstanding contribution to pharmaceutical science.
Dieter Steinbach from Germany received the organisation’s Joseph A Oddis award for exceptional service to FIP.
The other new FIP fellows are Ralph Altiere and Michael Anisfeld from the United States, Parisa Aslani and Timothy Chen from Australia, Thony Björk from Sweden, Manjiri Gharat from India and Michiho Ito from Japan.
The honours were announced at the meeting of the 76th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 28 August 2016.
