Louise Goldring has been appointed as director of education at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).
A statement from the Society, published on 13 November 2025, said Goldring’s position is a “key leadership role as the organisation transitions to become the Royal College of Pharmacy”.
Goldring will be joining the Society from her current role as director of learning at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS England), which she has held since 2018.
Her previous roles at RCS England also include head of learning and innovation, and innovation and development advisor.
The RPS said Goldring’s appointment was “part of carefully planned and managed leadership changes announced in August and designed to ensure that key appointments are in place as RPS transitions to become a royal college”.
Her role will be to lead on the development of educational strategy and programmes, to support pharmacists with ongoing learning and career advancement.
“I am really pleased to be joining RPS at such an important time in its history”, Golding said.
“I am excited to bring my experience and expertise to build on the excellent foundations already in place and I look forward to meeting and working closely with members and staff in the New Year.”
Paul Bennett, chief executive of the RPS, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Louise as director of education. Her appointment reflects the fact that education and learning will be at the heart of the new royal college.
“Louise’s expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we transition to become the Royal College of Pharmacy.”
The new executive structure will also include a director of finance and technology, and a director of pharmacy.
Recruitment is also underway for an inaugural chair of the trustee board of the new royal college.
