Online pharmacy Pharmacy2U recorded an increase of 64.5% in the number of NHS prescriptions it dispensed during the financial year to April 2025, compared with the previous year.

Filings with Companies House show that the UK’s biggest online pharmacy dispensed 31.2 million NHS prescriptions in 2024/2025, compared with 19.0 million in 2023/2024.

The company’s full accounts for the 2024/2025 financial year also show that Pharmacy2U NHS patient nominations increased by 87% from 814,000 in 2023/2024 to 1.5 million in 2024/2025, a rise of 86.6%.

During 2024/2025, Pharmacy2U’s revenue increased by 68% to £334m, up from £199m in 2023/2024, but the accounts also show that the company made a £5.7m pre-tax loss in 2024/2025 compared with a £3.4m loss in 2023/2024 — an increase of 68%.

Pharmacy2U attributed its revenue growth to “continued investment in marketing to attract new patients at a reduced cost per registration, and growth of the Online Doctor business”.

It also acknowledged that “key business risks and uncertainties affecting the company are primarily considered to relate to the difficult macroeconomic environment in which we are currently operating”.

Pharmacy2U acquired online pharmacy LloydsDirect in 2023 and Lloyds Pharmacy’s Online Doctor service in February 2025.

“The integration of Pharmacy2U and Lloyds Direct was completed before year-end, which delivered targeted synergies and contributed to the improved financial performance in the year,” it said.

During the 2024/2025 financial year, Pharmacy2U also acquired The PharmPet Co, which provides pet prescriptions and online retail of non-prescription pet healthcare, and Medicines Management Solutions Limited, which “provides pharmacist services to GPs and is closely aligned with the long-term NHS strategy to reduce pressure on GPs”, the report said.
