Boots pharmacists will have an extra nine days to cast their vote in the ballot on whether to derecognise the Boots Pharmacists’ Association.

The Central Arbitration Committee (CAC), which resolves collective disputes in England, granted the extra voting time after the Pharmacists’ Defence Association union (PDAU) claimed that almost 1% of eligible voters contacted the CAC on the first day of voting to say they had not received their ballot papers.

Eligible pharmacists now have until noon on 1 June 2018 to return their voting slips to Kanto Direct, the organisation managing the ballot. The previous deadline was 23 May 2018.

The PDAU had previously sought an extension to the ballot, claiming that some pharmacists and preregistration pharmacists would have been unable to vote because they were on holiday.
