Deaths: Joanna Ruth Lumb

On 14 July 2016, Joanna Ruth Lumb FRPharmS, aged 63, of Wandsworth, London. Lumb registered with the Society in 1974 and was made a Fellow in 2001. She joined The Pharmaceutical Journal as a subeditor in 1976, was appointed assistant editor in 1984 and, between 1987 and 2000, she was in charge of clinical content as a senior assistant editor. She was responsible for setting up the journal’s programme of continuing education articles and developed its Credit for Learning scheme in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy Practice. She was also involved with the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice from its launch and went on to become the managing editor. After leaving The Pharmaceutical Journal in 2000, Lumb worked as a freelance medical and pharmaceutical journalist.
