Charity Pharmacist Support has announced the return of its #GoGreen4PS fundraising campaign.
The week-long initiative begins on World Pharmacists Day, 25 September, and runs until 1 October. During that time, the pharmacy community is encouraged to raise money for Pharmacist Support through a range of fun, green-themed events.
Last year, the pharmacy community raised £5,290 through activities including bake sales, raffles, quizzes, and sponsored runs. The Royal Pharmaceutical Society went green at their annual conference, with many Society staff and members donning green wigs at the event. In March 2017, the Society received the charity’s Go Green Hero award for its fundraising efforts.

“This year we’re aiming for a bigger and even greener #GoGreen4PS week,” said Diane Leicester-Hallam, chief executive of Pharmacist Support. “We’re calling on everyone within the profession — individuals and organisations — to show their support, to get involved, get creative and most importantly to have fun. Our goal this year is to raise £10,000 to enable us to continue providing our free and confidential support to pharmacists, students and former pharmacists facing difficult times.”
For 2017, the charity is also encouraging supporters to join an online Thunderclap — a crowdspeaking platform that allows a single message to be mass-shared, flash mob-style, on social media — and by adding a twibbon to their social media profile pictures.
Suggestions and resources for fundraising activities are available from the Pharmacist Support website at www.pharmacistsupport.org/support-us. Those wishing to get involved should register their interest through the website, by email to fundraising@pharmacistsupport.org, or by calling the charity on 0161 441 0317.
Pharmacist Support is an independent charity providing free, confidential, practical and personal support to pharmacists and their dependents, pharmacy students and preregistration trainees.
