New chair for Welsh body that negotiates pharmacy contracts

Mark Griffiths has been elected as the new chair of Community Pharmacy Wales (CPW), the organisation that negotiates with the Welsh government on behalf of 716 community pharmacy contractors. 

Griffiths, who qualified as a pharmacist in 1985 and has worked in a variety of managerial and locum posts, currently represents Wales on the national negotiating committee – the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC). 

He takes over from Phil Parry who will remain a member of CPW board. 

Sam Fisher, currently head of pharmacy affairs for Celesio UK, takes on the role of vice chair. Fisher is a board member of the Company Chemists’ Association, which represents large multiple pharmacy chains and is one of its representatives on the PSNC.

Fisher is also a member of the Welsh Pharmaceutical Committee which advises the Welsh government on issues to do with pharmacy.
