An advisory group is being set up to support the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) on its draft revalidation plans, now known as the “continuing fitness to practise framework”.

The group, which will be made up of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, will meet twice a year and will be made up of a core of 10 individuals who will be invited to attend face-to-face meetings. There will also be another 10 members who will receive any critical correspondence and be invited to contribute comments, according to GPhC board papers issued on 11 September 2014.

When agreeing for the group to be formed, the council also agreed a revised timetable for introducing the framework although its original 2018 deadline for implementation remains the same. “

  • This story was amended on 30 September 2014 to clarify the position of the GPhC.
