Member feedback leads to MyCPD upgrade

The RPS MyCPD app is now linked with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society members’ desktop portfolios, following an update launched on 10 March 2020.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS’s) MyCPD app has been upgraded and synchronised with the Society’s web-based MyCPD portfolio. This means that any entries that members make on the MyCPD app will now also appear in the desktop portfolio — and vice versa.

Both the app and the desktop portfolio allow members and registered users to record and track continuing professional development (CPD) activity, a requirement of the General Pharmaceutical Council’s (GPhC’s) revalidation process.

The MyCPD app features learning content from The Pharmaceutical Journal, repurposed to help members and subscribers with their CPD.

Previously, any content entered into the app had to then be manually copied to the portfolio, and vice versa.

Helen Chang, head of professional development at the RPS, said this “major enhancement” would “further improve the user experience, making the recording of revalidation records even easier”.

The upgrade, Chang said, had been made in response to feedback: “We are always grateful for user feedback, and on this occasion it lead to changes. Our members have been telling us that they want revalidation records to sync across the two platforms — and now they do.”

Chang added that RPS members “can also access guidance, examples and webinars to prepare them for revalidation from the RPS website”.

Tony Scully, publisher of The Pharmaceutical Journal, said that he was “excited about how the MyCPD app can support members to revalidate with the GPhC, using the great learning content in The Pharmaceutical Journal.

“This improved connectivity between the app and the desktop portfolio clearly demonstrates that we are investing in how we support our members.

“We will be looking to develop new functionalities to support members and users as revalidation evolves.”

The new sync function is only available to RPS members; non-members will still need to manually copy records between the two products. Records entered on both the MyCPD app and the web-based revalidation portfolio will be saved indefinitely. Records can be submitted directly to the GPhC from the web portfolio using the portfolio’s ‘copy’ feature.
