The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Assembly has elected Brendon Jiang as treasurer of the Society.
Jiang was elected at the RPS Assembly meeting on 16 July 2024.
Eleri Schiavone, a member of both the Assembly and Welsh Pharmacy Board, had also been nominated for the post.
Jiang, who takes over as treasurer from Alisdair Jones, is also vice-chair of the English Pharmacy Board (EPB), to which he was most recently elected in 2022, having served previously between June 2019 and June 2021.
He has been on the RPS Assembly since 2022, as part of his role as vice-chair of the EPB.
Jiang is senior clinical pharmacist at North Oxfordshire Rural Alliance Primary Care Network (PCN), and PCN clinical lead pharmacist for Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board.
Commenting on his new role, Jiang said: “[It is a] great honour to be elected as RPS treasurer, entrusted with the responsibilities of financial oversight and chairing the Finance and Investment Committee.
“While financial stewardship may not be glamorous, it is essential to the sustainability and success of any organisation.
“I wish to acknowledge and express my gratitude for the contributions of previous treasurers, whose diligent work has laid a strong foundation to build upon. Now more than ever, it is imperative to strategically invest in our mission to put pharmacy at the forefront of healthcare.
“As your treasurer, I am committed to serving all three countries with dedication and integrity. I pledge to listen to our members, to learn from diverse perspectives, and to work collaboratively to advance the best interests of the Society and its members.
“Together, we will ensure a prosperous future for our profession.”
