I am writing as a fellow pharmacy professional with over 30 years of experience who has spent the past 16 years working to strengthen our profession and support the evolution of community pharmacy. Through my experience — including my most recent role as superintendent pharmacist at Boots — I have seen both the daily realities our teams face and the extraordinary opportunities ahead of us.
Community pharmacy is undergoing one of the most significant transformations in its history. The expansion of clinical services, the rollout of independent prescribing and increasing expectations from patients and the wider health system represent a profound shift in how our profession will deliver care in the future. I understand these pressures and opportunities deeply because I have lived them, supporting frontline teams, shaping national service development and working closely with NHS partners, regulators and digital health providers to ensure new models of care are safe, practical and impactful.
I am standing in this election because I believe we must seize this moment with strong, collaborative and forward‑looking professional leadership. If elected, my focus will be on ensuring pharmacy professionals are equipped, enabled and empowered to lead the next stage of our evolution.
I will champion:
- The development of modern pharmacy practice;
- The safe and successful embedding of independent prescribing;
- Leadership development at every career stage;
- A strong, stable and sustainable community pharmacy sector, where the workforce feels valued, supported and able to use their full clinical skills.
I believe deeply in the potential of our profession. With the right support, community pharmacy can play an even greater role in delivering accessible, high‑quality, integrated healthcare. I would be honoured to represent you, to champion the profession we share and to work with you to build a confident and ambitious future for pharmacy.
