Inviting community pharmacy professionals to take part in a research engagement programme project

The pharmacy profession has gone through tremendous changes over recent decades, with an expanded scope of professional practice exceeding its traditional dispensing role, more patient-facing services in managing chronic diseases and further engagement in health education.

As pharmacy practice is rapidly evolving, research is essential to generate knowledge and drive evidence-based practice. While ideally placed to deliver pharmacy-led research, there is a significant under-representation of community pharmacy in research. Therefore, we would like to invite community pharmacy staff (including community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians) to take part in the Community Pharmacy Research Engagement Programme (C-PREP) project, which is led by Keele University and funded by the West Midlands Regional Research Delivery Network.

This project is aimed to explore how community pharmacy staff and community pharmacy customers in the West Midlands take part in research, what challenges they face and what might encourage them to get involved. This invitation is directed to recruiting practising community pharmacy professionals in the West Midlands.

The project has two phases; the first phase includes completing a short online survey that asks about research experience, skills and knowledge. At the end of the survey, there is a question that invites respondents to join the second phase of the project if they would be interested, which involves a one-to-one online interview with the researcher to share more views on research. The interview will take around 45 minutes and those who take part in the interview will receive a £50 online gift card for their time.

For more information on this project and to access the online survey, please read the ‘Pharmacy professionals participant information sheet’.

By completing and submitting the survey, you agree that your responses can be used by the research team to help evaluate the project. The survey will take around ten minutes to complete.

If you are interested in the second phase, a member of the research team will contact you with more information and carry out a five-minute phone call to confirm your details.

If you would like more information or have any questions regarding this project, please feel free to contact project lead Hiyam Al-Jabr via email or by calling 01782 734645.
