I am writing to seek your support for election as a member of the English Pharmacy Advisory Council. I do so with a keen sense of responsibility to our profession and a clear commitment to contributing meaningfully to its future direction.
I am a senior clinical pharmacist with broad experience across primary care, medicines optimisation, and multidisciplinary clinical practice. My role places me at the interface between policy and practice, where decisions made at advisory and governance levels directly affect patient care, professional autonomy, and workforce sustainability. This perspective has shaped my desire to serve on the advisory council and ensure that its advice remains grounded, practical, and reflective of real-world pharmacy practice.
The pharmacy profession is undergoing rapid transformation with expanded clinical roles, increasing service demand, and heightened public expectations creating both opportunity and pressure. In this environment, the pharmacy advisory council has a critical role to play in shaping sound policy, supporting professional standards, and ensuring that pharmacists are enabled to practise safely, effectively, and confidently. I believe the Council must be both forward-looking and rigidly connected to frontline realities. If elected, I will bring a strong focus on three key areas.
First, inclusive, and evidence-informed decision-making. Our profession is diverse across sectors, career stages, and communities served. Advisory input must reflect this diversity through meaningful engagement, transparency, and the use of credible data.
Second, workforce sustainability and professional development. Pharmacists need clear career pathways, supportive governance, and leadership that recognises the pressures they face while advocating for appropriate system support.
Third, clinical quality and patient safety. Advisory recommendations must uphold high standards while encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
I value listening, constructive challenge and clarity and I am committed to representing colleagues thoughtfully, communicating decisions clearly, and contributing to advice that strengthens trust in both the profession and the systems we serve. I would be honoured to receive your support for election to the English Pharmacy Advisory Council. Together, we can help shape a profession that is confident, credible, and equipped to meet the demands of modern healthcare.
Rose Inyama, senior clinical pharmacist
