On 19 July 2018, John Alan Vickers, aged 89 years, of Hove. Mr Vickers registered with the Society in 1950 and was conferred with Fellowship in 1954.
Mr Vickers spent most of his life in Sunderland, where he lectured in the school of pharmacy at Sunderland Technical College (later Sunderland Polytechnic) until 1973. In 1983, he joined the NHS as a hospital pharmacist, working throughout Sunderland and the South Tyne region until his retirement in November 1988. During his career, he served as pharmaceutical officer for the Gateshead, South Tyne and Sunderland area health authorities, and was district pharmaceutical officer for Sunderland.
