First woman president of FIP elected

Spanish pharmacist Carmen Peña has been elected president of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). A community pharmacist from Madrid, Peña has served FIP for more than 20 years, including being vice-president since 2008. She is currently president of the General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain.

Peña, who is the first woman and first pharmacist from Spain to be elected as president in the FIP’s 102-year history, will take office from 5 September 2014 for a presidency term of four years.
