The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is urging pharmacists in all sectors to get involved in the second @WePharmacists ‘24 hours in pharmacy’ Twitter event on 24 March 2016.

For 24 hours people in a pharmacy-related role can share what they’re doing using the hashtag #pharmacy24. The aim of the event is to explore the tasks and challenges faced by pharmacy teams on a daily basis as well as to celebrate and promote the diverse role of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and the care they provide to their patients each day. This year, pharmacy teams are also invited to share their pictures on Instagram and Facebook using the same hashtag.

In support of the event, the RPS is asking pharmacists to complete a short survey to tell them about key interventions they have undertaken and services they have provided during the week that have had a demonstrable impact on improved patient safety and care.

Neal Patel, head of corporate communications at the RPS, said that “now more than ever we need to make sure we can quantify and qualify the work pharmacists do”.

“We’re delighted to be supporting the great work of @WePharmacists in their #pharmacy24 initiative,” says Neal Patel, head of corporate communications at the RPS. “Now more than ever we need to make sure we can quantify and qualify the work pharmacists do to support patient care across the NHS. The data we collect through our survey will be shared with the profession and wider to do just that.”
