Government grants further drug concessions for January 2018

Pills and coins, drug prices

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has granted price concessions for a further 16 drugs for January 2018.

The initial list of price concessions granted by the DHSC for this month covered 40 drugs, taking the current list for January to 56 drugs, two more than were granted in December 2017.

The Pharmaceutical Service Negotiating Committee (PSNC) said it was still in discussion with the DHSC regarding further January 2018 price concessions and would release any updates as soon as possible.

In November 2017, there was an unprecedented delay in reaching national agreement on drug price concessions for dispensed generic products that month.

By the end of November, only 38 of 97 generic price concessions applied for by the PSNC had been agreed with the Department of Health, which increased cash flow problems for contractors.
