Liz Hallett has been elected as interim chair of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS) Welsh Pharmacy Board (WPB).
A portfolio pharmacist, Hallett has been a member of the WPB since 2022. She takes over as chair from Geraldine McCaffrey, who was appointed as director for Wales at the RPS in September 2025.
Hallett will hold the position of chair until March 2026, when the inaugural elections to the Royal College of Pharmacy’s national pharmacy advisory councils will be held. After these elections, a council chair will be elected by council members.
In her address to the board, before her election, Hallett said that her vision as chair included strengthening collaboration between community, primary care, hospital, and specialist services, advocating for digital innovation and emerging science, and ensuring robust governance and transparency.
“Pharmacy in Wales is at a pivotal moment. We have an opportunity to shape services that meet the needs of patients today and in the future,” she said.
“As chair, I will work tirelessly to ensure that the pharmacy workforce are empowered, supported and recognised as essential to the health and wellbeing of our nation.”
In a statement issued on 22 December 2025, the RPS said: “Liz will lead the board in its work to champion the profession, support members, and advance pharmacy in Wales until the new Welsh Pharmacy Advisory Council elects its chair.”
Nominations for elections to the Royal College of Pharmacy’s national pharmacy advisory councils will open on 5 January 2026, and close on 2 February 2026.
