Joy Adamson

I first met Joy over 40 years ago when we were pre-registration trainees at Newcastle General Hospital, and we remained friends ever since.

After a spell with Boots, the majority of Joy’s career was as manager of Centrepharm in North Tyneside.

This was one of the first pharmacies to be located in a health centre. More recently, Joy worked as a community locum and at Newcastle Nuffield Hospital.

She was an active member of the Newcastle local branch of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain for many years, assisting with the organisation of the annual conference held there.

Outside pharmacy, Joy had many interests, including her passion for golf.

Her many friends at her golf club and church, as well as colleagues and friends in pharmacy, will be saddened by her untimely death after a long illness, which she fought bravely.

I shall miss our regular chats about the changing world of pharmacy over the years.
