Under a new agreement between Robert Gordon University (RGU) and the Austrian Association of Employed Pharmacists (VAAÖ), Austrian pharmacists will have the opportunity to study for RGU’s MSc in Clinical Pharmacy Practice.
Apotheker Fortbildungs Akademie (AFA), the postgraduate education arm of the VAAÖ, will support Austrian pharmacists to complete the distance-learning course. For their part, German-speaking RGU staff will travel to Austria to deliver supporting workshops, alongside qualified Austrian clinical pharmacists. These workshops will be specifically tailored to the Austrian pharmacy sector, said the Scottish university.
According to Anita Weidmann, senior lecturer at RGU’s School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences, the MSc course already has several international students enrolled, but the Austrian workshops are unique. “These workshops are developed in collaboration with the VAAÖ, to contextualise the online course content for Austria and help develop a network of clinical pharmacists across the country,” she said.
A cohort of around 30 Austrian pharmacists will begin their studies in January 2018.
