Andrew Evans was awarded an OBE for services to the COVID-19 response in Wales, while Marc Donovan was awarded an OBE for services to pharmacy in the Queen's birthday honours 2022.

Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Fellows Andrew Evans and Marc Donovan have been awarded OBEs in the 2022 Queen’s birthday honours.

Evans, the chief pharmaceutical officer for Wales, was recognised for services to the COVID-19 response in Wales.

In a tweet, the Welsh government offered its congratulations to Evans, along with Gillian Richardson, Welsh deputy chief medical officer for vaccines, who received an OBE for services to public health and the Welsh COVID-19 response.

Marc Donovan, chief pharmacist at Boots UK, received an OBE for services to pharmacy. In a statement, Donovan said he was “honoured to accept this recognition on behalf of the many dedicated and hard-working pharmacists and pharmacy teams that I have had the privilege to work alongside over the years”.

“The positive difference that community pharmacy has made, and continues to make, is extraordinary and I feel privileged to have had such a rewarding career in the profession so far,” he added.

Also receiving an OBE was Sumeet Matharu, chief pharmacist for Defence Primary Healthcare at the Ministry of Defence, who was recognised for services to armed forces healthcare.

The RPS offered its congratulations to all three pharmacists in a tweet on 6 June 2022.
