RPS joins London Pride parade for first time

Staff and members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) marched alongside more than 30,000 people in the Pride in London Parade, held in the capital on 6 July 2019.

It was the first time the Society has joined the parade, which was the culmination of a month-long celebration of London’s LGBT+ community.

Gareth Kitson, professional development and engagement lead at the RPS, said it was “a real privilege to organise this on behalf of our staff and wider RPS membership”.

“Pride in London is a visible recognition of the rich diversity within the LGBT+ community and it was wonderful that we could recognise this diversity found within our profession.”

A total of 35 staff and members marched under the RPS banner. “Members who attended on the day had a wonderful time and commented on how exciting it is that the RPS is recognising its members in this way,” Kitson said.

“[Taking part in the parade] is a small part of a much bigger piece of work that the RPS is starting, to celebrate and encourage the variety of cultures and diverse voices across the pharmacy sector to truly represent our membership, the wider sector and our customers.”
