RPS Museum at ‘Up Close and Medical’: 28 October 2017

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) museum team will be at “Up Close and Medical: Discover London’s medical museums” on Saturday 28 October 2017. The event takes place from 14:00 to 17:00 at The Royal College of Nursing, 20 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0RN.

It is free to attend, and will include object handling sessions, workshops and poetry delivered by thirteen of London’s medical museums. Matthew Johnston, RPS museum documentation assistant, and John Betts, keeper of the RPS museum, will be demonstrating a Victorian pill-making kit.

In the evening, an “Up Close and Medical: Open Mic” event will see museum staff delivering short stand-up comedy sessions in which they reveal the inner workings of medical museums. Confirmed speakers to date include representatives of the Science Museum and The Old Operating Theatre. The evening event costs £7.
