RPS winter summit: bookings open and call for abstracts

Bookings for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)’s inaugural winter summit are now open.

The one-day event, ‘Bridging the gap between industry, academia, policy and practice’, will take place on 5 December 2017 at Mary Ward House in London and, says the RPS, is designed to showcase the “latest innovations in science, research and education, and will explore how they impact pharmacy and healthcare in general”. The conference will be chaired by Paul Bennett, chief executive of the RPS, and the prospective RPS chief scientist, who will take up the post later this summer.

The event will focus on four themes: new medicines, chaired by Gino Martini, country medical leader at Roche and professor of pharmaceutical innovation at King’s College London; better medicines, chaired by Christine Bond, emeritus professor (primary care) at the Institute of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Aberdeen; better use of medicines, chaired by Derek Stewart, professor at the School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences, Robert Gordon University; and developing the workforce, chaired by Peter Kopelman, former principal of St George’s, University of London.

The RPS is inviting abstract submissions for poster and oral presentations in the areas of pharmaceutical science, clinical research and health services research (including pharmacy practice and education). Abstracts accepted for poster and oral presentations will be published in the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice or the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology (impact factor 2.405).

Guidance on the abstract submission process can be found on the event page. The deadline for abstract submission is 11 September 2017.
