The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Assembly has elected Sibby Buckle as the society’s next treasurer.

In a statement published on 16 August 2022, the RPS noted that Buckle is the first woman to hold the post of treasurer since the Society became the professional leadership body in 2010.

Buckle is currently a member of the RPS English Pharmacy Board and Assembly, to which she was elected in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

She also sits on the RPS Finance and Investment Committee, where Society budgets, pensions, assets, financial priorities and performance, reserves and investment policies are discussed.

Commenting on her new role, Buckle said she wants to “build on the great contribution made by our previous treasurer”.

“Over the next two years of my tenure, I will monitor and challenge our financial performance, our focus on environmental, social and governance factors, investment strategy and performance and our financial governance,” she said.

“As the professional leadership body we need to plan carefully, invest wisely, and secure a bright and financially positive future. My drive, focus and passion continues to be as an ambassador for pharmacy with decision makers at the highest levels so we can deliver for our members.”

Claire Anderson, president of the RPS, added: “Sibby’s experience with RPS and career achievements make her ideal for the post of Treasurer and I look forward to working with her.”

Buckle was elected unopposed to the role, and takes over from Andre Yeung, who held the post from July 2020 until June 2022.
