The PJ Pod wins ‘best podcast’ at British Society of Magazine Editors awards

Judges at the British Society of Magazine Editors Talent Awards 2024 said The PJ Pod “used the podcast format to bring to life its well-researched investigative journalism for not only its audience, but the wider public too”.

The Pharmaceutical Journal’s podcast, The PJ Pod, has been named best podcast in the B2B category at the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME) Talent Awards ceremony 2024.

Announcing the award at the ceremony, held in central London on 4 June 2024, the judges said that The PJ Pod “used the podcast format to bring to life its well-researched investigative journalism for not only its audience, but the wider public too, while showcasing its core written content”.

The PJ Pod team comprises The Pharmaceutical Journal‘s executive editor Carolyn Wickware, former executive editor Nigel Praities, senior features editor Dawn Connelly, senior editor — research and learning Alex Clabburn, assistant clinical editor Caitlin Killen, freelance podcast producer Geoff Marsh, and former senior data journalist Julia Robinson.

At the 2023 BSME awards, The PJ Pod was given a special highly commended award in the best podcast category, an accolade that featured only in a few categories where the entrant was deemed very close to winning.

The Pharmaceutical Journal team was shortlisted for awards across six more categories at the awards: best subbing/production team — Sheralyn Bone, Hannah Krol, Sophie Willis, Wes Mountain; best section editor/team — Dawn Connelly; best designer — Wes Mountain; best writer (B2B) — Tammy Lovell; best writer (health, science and technology) — Carolyn Wickware; and best writer (news) — David Lipanovic.

The editorial team at The Pharmaceutical Journal were shortlisted in five categories at the 2023 BSME awards, and Julia Robinson was named best news writer.
