I was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Joy, from COVID-19, last month. I first met her in 1970 when she did her preregistration training year at Boots in Coventry. I was pharmacy manager there at the time, and her tutor for part of the year, until I moved to another Boots store.
Since those early days, our paths crossed on several occasions when she was pharmacy inspector and, latterly, assistant pharmacy superintendent for Boots. She was a happy, friendly person, with a wicked sense of humour, and always very modest about her considerable achievements. She will be sadly missed by many of us.
