Kavita Kantilal is the electronic prescribing pharmacist based at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood, Middlesex, where she is the system administrator for ChemoCare at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. She obtained her Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) at University of Natal, Durban, South Africa in 1993. After successfully completing the Oversees Pharmacist examination at the University of Sunderland, she has been registered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain since 1999. She completed her Certificate and Diploma in Pharmacy Practice at the University of London, School of Pharmacy in 2002 and 2006, respectively. She obtained her Postgraduate Award in Clinical Oncology at the University of Warwick in 2011. nnMs Kantilal joined Mount Vernon Hospital as a specialist oncology pharmacist in 2007 and was appointed to her current post in 2009. She was employed at Baxter Healthcare Ltd, Chemotherapy Compounding Unit from 2001 to 2004. There she had the opportunity to maintain an electronic aseptic compounding system. This knowledge proved to be invaluable in her current post. She has an interest in the benefits of electronic prescribing systems beyond safety and has written an essay on this topic as part of her Postgraduate Award in Clinical Oncology. Her current interest lies in the unintentional consequences of electronic prescribing systems as her knowledge and experience develops in this area.
