I wish to comment on Eileen Neilson’s piece ‘Nurses in pharmacies could help solve the NHS crisis’ (
The Pharmaceutical Journal
2015;294:79). Having nurses in pharmacies is a great concept and would improve access for patients, especially since most pharmacies are open long hours and most open six or seven days a week. However, it must be recognised that there are pharmacists already working in urgent care alongside nurse and medical practitioners with appropriate advanced clinical assessment and prescribing skills. Perhaps they could work in pharmacies, too.
