Pharmacists’ working conditions are the building blocks of patient care

Looking after jobs, wages and working environment for pharmacists is my greatest passion and is the building block of the platform that allows us to deliver for our patients.

Jobs — we need job security so that we know we can put food on our families’ table – allowing us to always act professionally, standing up against bosses who might otherwise push profit or KPIs over patient care.

Wages — we have to be fairly remunerated for the professional role we perform.

Working environment — the skill mix and staffing levels have to be sufficient for the pharmacies in which we work. We all want to deliver the best patient care we possibly can, but that isn’t easy if you are working in a sweat shop pharmacy!

I have spent years trying, with some success, to get the role and use of pharmacists expanded in all sectors of practice.
