Pharmacy2U has acquired Care Quality Pharmacy in “an important step in delivering Pharmacy2U’s growth strategy”, the company has announced.
On 21 January 2026, Kevin Heath, chief executive of Pharmacy2U, said: “Care homes are responsible for an important portion of all prescription medications dispensed in the UK, predicated on service quality and reliability, making the market a natural extension for Pharmacy2U; the nation’s third-largest dispenser of prescription medication.”
Care Quality Pharmacy, which describes itself as a “leading specialist care home services provider”, was founded in 2013 and provides services to care homes, extra care services and domiciliary care agencies across Great Britain.
Usman Tahir, managing director at Care Quality Pharmacy, said the business was “delighted” with the partnership.
“With such a broad range of needs, it’s critical that care providers are fully serving the medical needs of their residents, and we take pride in giving our customers absolute confidence every single day,” he added.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Pharmacy2U, who from day one have supported our growth ambitions, enabling our team to focus on growing the business and further improving our already high level of service to our existing partners.”
According to its Companies House filing, Pharmacy2U — the UK’s biggest online pharmacy — dispensed 31.2 million NHS prescriptions in 2024/2025.
Pharmacy2U acquired online pharmacy LloydsDirect in 2023 and went on to acquire Lloyds Pharmacy’s Online Doctor service in 2025.
In the 2024/2025 financial year, Pharmacy2U also acquired The PharmPet Co, which provides pet prescriptions and online retail of non-prescription pet healthcare, and Medicines Management Solutions Limited.
NHS data for 2024/2025 show that, in England, an average of 331,000 care home patients aged 65 years and over received prescriptions each month and an estimated 42 million prescription items over the year.
