Tribute: Alan Ross

I was saddened to hear of the passing away of Alan Ross.

Alan appointed me as principal pharmacist to the Bolton hospitals when he was the area pharmaceutical officer for Bolton, Bury and Rochdale, and he was truly supportive. I could not have asked for a better manager. He was always full of practical ideas and solutions about how we could best run the service. He was a keen supporter of computerisation, especially concerning pharmaceutical stock control — without which the service could not cope today. He always liked a bit of banter with colleagues and enjoyed a laugh.

They were happy days, Alan. Thank you.
