RPS elections 2024: Aled Roberts

Welsh Pharmacy Board candidate

Aled, a Cardiff University alumnus, registered in 2009 and became an independent prescriber in 2021. He is an advocate of collaboration and co-operation in improving the lives of patients, professionals and wider populations.

As associate director of contractor engagement at Community Pharmacy Wales, he has a strong community pharmacy background. However, he works closely with pharmacists across all sectors, including GP, local health boards, Health Education and Improvement Wales, Public Health Wales, academia and the RPS. Aled leads for Community Pharmacy Wales on collaborative working, digital workstreams — including the electronic prescription service (EPS) roll out — and independent prescribing support. He sits on numerous ‘Pharmacy: Delivering a Healthier Wales’ working groups, the Public Health Wales antimicrobial stewardship workstream, and the Wales EPS Programme Board. He also regularly locums in community.

Aled’s roles and current practice provide him with insights into the challenges facing pharmacists nationwide, and he believes that professional advancement and recognition of our true value can only come from providing equitable support and opportunity for all pharmacists.
