RPS elections 2024: Matthew Prior

Currently deputy director of pharmacy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and the deputy chair for the RPS Hospital Expert Advisory Group.

I have a unique and varied career working across numerous different systems and roles, both within the NHS and privately, always striving to grow and develop pharmacy as a profession and its value within healthcare.

Passionate about pharmacy, my drive to be elected is to grow the profile and standing of pharmacy. New roles across systems have grown significantly over the last decade and, with severe workforce challenges, there needs to be a drive to bring together the profession across sectors, work that needs to be led by the professional body.

There are huge opportunities within pharmacy but presently pharmacy is undervalued, underutilised and underappreciated. Only by changing this can we drive our people and our patient care to be the best they can be.
