RPS elections 2024: Yasmin Karsan

I am a prescribing community pharmacist with over 10 years of experience in the field. I am a second-generation pharmacy owner and hold a PhD in community pharmacy and health systems from the University of Nottingham. I have worked in a variety of additional settings, including primary care, 111, hospital pharmacy, and research. Throughout my career, I have built an acute understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the profession. I am passionate about leveraging technology to improve patient outcomes and in pursuit of this goal, I obtained a Master’s degree in artificial intelligence, which has allowed me to bring a unique perspective to my work as a pharmacist.

In addition to this, I am currently the founder and regulation officer of a pharmacogenomics startup. My company uses genetic testing to personalise medication therapy, improving outcomes and reducing the risk of adverse drug reactions.
