Pharmacists play a vital and expanding role in managing ear, eye and oral health conditions, offering advice, over-the-counter (OTC) treatments and clinical services, including prescribing for certain conditions under schemes such as the NHS Pharmacy First service. Often serving as the first point of contact for patients, pharmacists are also able to effectively triage patients and make appropriate referrals to GPs, dentists, optometrists or emergency care, when necessary.
